I have a new computer than came with a gig of DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHz.
Can I take the memory from an otherwise trashed computer and install it
with the new memory. The old comuter has 1 gig of DDR.

No, DDR memory is both physically and electrically incompatible with DDR2
memory. DDR2 sockets will not accept DDR memory and vice versa. Scott.
