I recently did a fresh clean install on my pc. I have a Western Digital HDD installed that I use as backup. I'm just wondering why it's showing up as if it is an external drive.

Sorry Scott, I'm a little out of practice and may have forgotten some basic things in my old age!.

That could be due to what SATA port it is connected to, how that port is configured in the BIOS Setup, how the drive Policies (i.e. Write Caching and Safe Removal) are set in Windows, and possibly even how the drive is formatted. Let me know what you find, Scott.

I recently fixed this by changing to a different sata controller on the board. I believe the one I was connected to was specifically for external drives or to connect an e-sata bracket to.
