What battery is in there now? I'd say easily 95% or more PC motherboards use that battery. Based on the pics at the link you posted it looks like this one does as well, post a link to the documentation and we'll know for sure. Scott.

The manual doesn't specifically call out the battery part number, however based on the size and shape it shows I'd say there is a 99.9% chance it is a CR2032. What battery is in there now? Scott.

Well, I can't be completely certain that the battery is indeed a CR2032 since I don't feel like removing the video card at the present time, but it seems like it is. I bought the system with the motherboard in question back in 2011. Would this be a good time to replace the battery even if it is a CR2032? In any case, I will buy a CR2032 in the near future.

I would only replace the battery if it measures under 3.0V. Scott.

Is there a good way to measure the voltage of a CR2032 battery without removing it from the motherboard?

With the system unplugged, place the positive multimeter probe on the top of the battery and the negative probe on a motherboard ground pad (e.g. circular pad around a screw hole).

In fact I just demonstrated measuring CMOS/NVRAM battery voltage (with the battery both in and out of a system) in the Power Supply Troubleshooting segment that is featured on the DVD included with the upcoming 22nd edition of Upgrading and Repairing PCs: http://www.amazon.com/Upgrading-Repairi ... 0789756102

There are over 3 hours of highly informative video content on the DVD included with this latest edition. Scott.

Um, where can I get a motherboard ground pad? Can you show me a picture of one, Scott?

They are the circular solder pads surrounding most screw holes:

Well and battery that is a CR2032 will work as a cmos battery.

what if a montherboard don't have a circular solder pads surrounding the screw holes then how would you test the cmos battery when it is in the montherboard.
on the HP desktop don't have any circular solder pads surrounding the screw holes.

There should be ground pads surrounding at least one of the screw holes. They may be spoked or patterned and not completely circular. Scott.
