Hello Scott,
Following a recent psu failure which took out 2 hard drives, I've decided that my PCs should have only 1 drive each, for the OS. Data will be on external drives using a docking station with it's own power supply.
I'm thinking of buying one of these.

The safer alternative would be to copy data to the internal drive, then out to a different external drive, so that there are never more than one internal and one external disk connected simultaneously, each with it's own psu. I'd really appreciate your opinion . Have you known external psus to fail and destroy the disk they're powering?
Thank you.
Mike
