I went to set up a task I wanted in sceduled tasks and found a task in
there that was disabled, but I never set it up. Under creator though it
does say my windows user name...The name of the task is PmTask. The path to
it is,

C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWMIDTSK.EXE

I went to this location and clicked on it and nothing happens. Should I
delete this task?. It is disabled anyway, but why is it there in the first
place?.

That is the PoWer Manager IDle TaSK program, which is automatically
installed as part of the ThinkPad Power Manager software.

It is enabled or disabled depending on the options you select in your power
scheme battery and AC settings. In particular, one of the power scheme
options is to lower the display brightness after a period of inactivity in
order to save power. If you enable this feature, the PMTask listed in
Scheduled Tasks will be enabled, as it is used to control this feature. You
should not delete this task. Scott.
