Scott,

Out of curiosity, and for my own planning purposes, what is the longest you've kept a TP going for? I assume a TP can be used essentially until it truly is technologically obsolete, as it's quite easy to repair anything that does go wrong for less than the cost of a new TP.

I'm still actively using my 2003 vintage ThinkPad R40, which turned 8 years old this summer. <g> It functions as a research terminal (access to the internet as well as the data library on my server) and a music player in my workshop. Because it runs XP so well I see no reason to stop using it until at least 2014, at which point it will be 11 years old. Scott.
