Scott,

When doing work on laptops, esp. near total dis-assembly and re-assembly, do you use an ESD mat? Do you recommend any in particular? Thanks.

I use a 3M 8505 Portable Field Service Kit along with an extra optional 3M AMWS Adjustable Metal Wrist Band. Scott.

Wow those 3m 8505 protable field service kits are price very high around $1,825.00.

I have found another Static Control Kit, Features an 18 x 22 Inch Static Safe Work Mat with Grounding Cord and Wrist Strap, Field Service Kit, Folds Down to Fit in Tool Kit.

They all pretty much do the same thing, so whatever kit you use should be fine. However, I happen to sweat a lot so the fabric wrist bands included in most kits get ugly very fast. For that reason I upgrade any kit I use with a stainless steel Speidel Style Adjustable Wrist Band. Scott.
