Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop was received DOA - no lights, fans, sounds, or POST. I have taken the following steps:
Checked AC adapter - OK - tried another known good adapter
Reseated RAM and Hard Drive
Removed Optical Drive
Removed Battery and tried AC adaptor only

In all steps above, there is no sound, lights, fan, or any activity. I was told that it had had a virus and was cleaned. It worked for a while and then did not start at all.

I was wondering what my next step would be. I have begun searching for a replacement motherboard but what to see if I have missed steps before the replacing the m/b or CPU.

I went through Dell support site and after the steps, they say call Dell Repair.

Thanks to forum for support and suggestions.

Please include a link to the support page for the system.

Did you try a known-good HDD? If you have removed or replaced all other components with known-good spares, that would leave the motherboard as the remaining suspect. Scott.
