The restructuring sounds more like two independent organizations or groups within the same company. Kind of like Cadillac (ThinkPad) and Chevrolet (Lenovo) both being owned by GM (Lenovo Group Limited). That's a good thing, as it will keep the ThinkPad brand more focused on the business and high-end, while the Lenovo brand will cater to consumers and the low-end. A greater separation between those groups will help prevent disasters like the Cimarron (the Cadillac "Cavalier"). <g> Scott.

Nice! We like to call that "badge engineering" where one company takes another ones product and simply changes the badges or other cosmetics to fool people into thinking it is something different. GM was quite famous for that back in the day, but to its credit they've become much less dependent on that lately. Still, I absolutely love my Pontiac Camaro with a Buick V6 engine. <g> Scott.

Haha In Europe V6 is very exotic!

Lovely car, I'm tempted to get a I6 Volvo 960 I saw on eBay but I'd never be able to park it...

Scott, is the quality of Thinkpads still the same since the change?. I'm talking to a guy on another site and he says for his company the new Thinkpads just aren't the same anymore. He said what used to be aluminum is now cheap plastic, screen is much cheaper....So I don't know, maybe it's just certain models?.

ThinkPad quality is still outstanding, especially the T-series and W-series. Those have super strong magnesium chassis, far stronger and lighter than even aluminum. There are some questionable things happening with the keyboard layouts and TrackPoint buttons in the latest models, but that's more of a design than a quality issue. Scott.
