Is there any hope of booting into one operating system and then have another OS run the laptop without rebooting? I added a USB floppy disk drive that can't have a floppy in it until a minute later (per manual and per experience with freezing) even though while empty it's first in the BIOS boot order. Putting a floppy into the FDD later makes the floppy readable. Once that happens, is there some way that I can run the OS that's on the floppy instead of the OS that's on other media without rebooting?

Sure, merely install free virtualization software such as Virtual PC 2007 (for Vista and XP host systems), Windows Virtual PC (for Windows 7 hosts) or VMware Player and use it to run just about any other OS in a Window. Scott.
