Hi Scott I replaced the hd in a ASUS LANSING K501 Laptop. When I power up only the power button lights up. I tried removing the battery holding down the power button for 30 secs still doesn't turn on.Can you suggest any thing else I can try. Thanks for your time. warm regards, dak

It is possible for a bad HDD to render the system inoperable. I would first try running it without the HDD installed, you should be able to see the logo screen and power-on self test (POST) at power up, and if desired enter the BIOS Setup (F2 key). If that doesn't happen help then I would try a known-good AC adapter. If that doesn't help then something else in the system may have failed (e.g. video, memory, adapter cards, motherboard) in which case more troubleshooting will be required. Scott.
