Hello Scott...
Long time, no talk or e-mail to. <g> We "finally" finished our move from the Bay Area up to Montana back in September... what a long, time consuming process. It only took 10 years and 10 loads of "stuff." <g>
Sorry... I digress. Ahem... Well... I'm finally in the market for a new workstation, and I wanted to get your advice on what make & model. I know you liked Lenovo, but they had some issues on their product line the past couple of years, and you weren't very happy with the changes they made. This year, it looks like they're starting to come around with decent products.
Can I get your advice on what you'd recommend as a really nice workstation laptop? I'm looking at the Think Station P-70 models, but I need your input on what base unit to get and what parts I can get later and install myself to cut down on the overall initial cost.
Is there an optimal amount of RAM for the P-70's? I know you can max out at 64 GB of RAM, but is it logical to get that much? I "will" be using the laptop for AutoCAD, SolidWorks 2016-2017, Adobe software, CorelDraw quite a bit, and a lot of HD video editing and possibly 4K video editing using Premiere Pro CS6. What are your recommendations for what I should buy now and then add to it at a later date if needed? I can add drives, memory, etc. either now or later... whichever method is the most economical. Below is a link to Lenovo's website for the P-70's.
