What kind of problems will I encounter when I get my laptop out and boot it up?

I have had major surgery and have been sick off and on for the past year or so. I do good to use my desktop. And its SLOW, but it' OLD.

I remember that the directions that came with the lap top said that once a month you should run the battery down and re-charge it. Is there any chance that it is ruined since I haven't turned it on in so long? Could the battery bo dead?

It's newer than my desktop. It has a 100GB hard drive and has Windows XP on it.

Please let me know if it's safe to boot it up. Thanks Scott.

The only thing that you would have to worry about is the battery being dead. I would suggest fully charging the battery before powering it on, then running the system on the battery until completely dead. Then I would recharge the battery with the system off, at that point you could use the system normally.

I wouldn't be surprised if the battery life was drastically reduced though. Batteries go bad after time, there is no way to fix that.

Mike.

Thank you Mike for your help. Will try that tonight when I can stay on line longer. I only have one phone line.
