I'd recommend Weller for soldering irons/guns. I have a Weller 140/100 gun that is over 40 years old and I still use it all the time. I recommend 60/40 rosin core solder. Scott.

It is fine, I don't solder that often and like the very short warmup times of a higher powered gun.

I'm going on 58 and I bought my Weller gun when I was 15 (1975). I was heavily into radios and electronics at the time. Computers of course were the next logical progression <g> Scott.

I read a review on their website and other websites about this model of soldering iron is that the tips can braked off ...... hmmm... I guess i'll just have to return this one back and look for something else.

i guess when they make stuff back in the 1970's they last for a long time unlike today models they good bad right away......
