Is there any reason that the built in CD DVD RW drive (at least I assume that it is the CD drive) would be accessed and "clunk" when booting an Inspiron 1525 laptop with Windows XP Home? I just did a clean install and now on every boot I get this annoying sound. I changed the boot order in the BIOS so that the CD drive is after the hard disk yet still get the noise.

Thanks for any ideas!

Different drives make different sounds when they are accessed. If you could find out what is accessing the drive and stop it, that might be a solution. Otherwise you could replace it with something quieter. Scott.
