Hi Scott,

I was wondering whether you think getting the low latency (CL=4) DDR2-667 laptop memory is worthwhile? I just saw these two SKU's on the Newegg site:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... 081&name=4

Would I see much, if any, difference when running standard type applications?

The price for 4GB of "regular" (CL=5) Crucial DDR2-667 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820148201 is only a little bit less than for the Kingston "HyperX" memory in the link above, worth the extra few dollars?

Thanks as always!
-Paul

You'll find the answer in my post here:

Note that in general, the overall system performance improvement from lower-latency memory (i.e. from CL-5 to CL-4) running at the same clock speed would be about the same or less than that resulting from faster memory (i.e. from 533MHz to 667MHz). Scott.

Thanks Scott,

so basically not worth paying a huge premium for, but wouldn't necessarily make a huge difference anyway. Can't hurt though, every little bit helps I guess <g>

I've often spent a little extra to get something "better", even though I know that I won't ever be able to notice the difference. <g> Scott.

You mean you can't tell the difference between a $5 and a $100 HDMI cable? <g>

Sure, the $100 one is 20 times longer, right? <g> Scott.

sure, as well as 24K gold plated super-tensile NASA tested connectors and it comes in a nice impenetrable hard plastic case and maybe has a little accessory bag to store it in <g>
