Hi Scott,

I have just been reading the latest edition of Upgrading And Repairing PC's which arrived here last week. I followed your directions to enable a faster shut-down using ACPI suspend S3 for my desk-top system which is Windows XP Home and it works really well.

I have been trying to do the same thing for Windows 7 but unless I am wrong this is not possible. Could you please tell me if there is any way to access ACPI or any adjustment that will do the same thing in Windows 7?
Also, have Cue discontinued actual hard-cover editions of your book? I usually get mine through Amazon and I didnt remember seeing any mention of a hard-cover edition.
I would be grateful for any comments on these questions.

Thank you

Regards

Brakers

On desktop systems Windows 7/Vista automatically turns on a new feature called Hybrid Sleep, which combines sleep and hibernate modes. This unfortunately makes putting the system in StandBy (sleep) mode take just as long as putting it in Hibernate mode. To make Sleep in 7/Vista function just like StandBy did in Windows XP (meaning fast!), merely turn "Allow Hybrid Sleep" off under the Advanced Power Settings.

Yes, in order to reduce the price by $10. More info here. Scott.
