Hi Scott,

I have been using Reg Seeker from time to time with no problem. I used it recently on another persons computer and set it for "auto Clean" It took a long while to complete the scan and come up with around 8000 invalid or obsolete registry entries.
I ticked the box to back up before deletion.
After re-booting the desktop icons and font sizes were a little smaller but all appeared normal until I clicked on programs and from then on nothing in the list would open and there was an error message which I didnt write down but essentially prevented any program from being opened.

I realize that you have to be careful with anything to do with editing the registry, but this program had always worked in the past so I had no reason to expect problems.

With the number of issues on this particular computer, I think re-installing windows would be the best option but I just wanted to ask what you think of registry cleaners and would you recommend a really safe one?

I would be grateful for your help.

Thank you

regards

Brakers

Most so-called registry cleaners, optimizers, etc. do more damage than good, and in general I do not recommend them. The only program I do recommend that does registry cleaning is CCleaner. I recommend the "slim" version. Scott.

Hi Scott

Thanks for your advice. I use CCleaner and have found it very successful.
