I either need help or anyone who can direct me to a website that will help me solve my problem with an Event Error 10016 Distributed COM. The description is as follows:

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} to the user GILBERTS\Valued Customer SID (S-1-5-21-4187237341-1786720687-375158687-1000) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

I haven't been able to make head or tails in how to use the Component Services Admisnistrative tool called out. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. I am looking for a step by step procedure in performing this fix. Thanks.

This sounds like nvidia firewall installed on your system. If you do have the nvidida firewall intall on your system you may have to go to the nvidia website on how to uninstall it.

And see what happends and then get back.

I've never seen this myself, so I'd recommend searching for a fix. Let me know what the cause and solution turn out to be. Scott.

your Motherboard came with the nvidia firewall.

I would go to Nvidia website and download the latest Nforce4 driver package and install it
or uninstall the nvidia firewall this should clear it up.

I agree, if you search for the CLSID of the offending application, it seems to be caused by the NVIDIA firewall, which is a cruel joke of a program that I definitely recommend uninstalling. Let me know if that solves the problem. Scott.

Thanks guys for your responses. My motherboard is the Asus P5N-D. So far, I haven't been able to find this Firewall. Another thing I didn't mentioned was the fact that this problem started on 1-15-2010. I have had my computer since 1-2-2009. I have been trying to figure out what I may have installed or modified around that date. 10 days prior to that date I increase my RAM to 8GB from the original 4GB that came with my computer. I used the identical RAM modules by part number. Don't know if that would cause this problem 10 days after installation. Can you tell me where to look for the firewall? Thanks again.

Control Panel; Add or Remove Programs; then uninstall the NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager:

That thing is bad mojo! <g> Scott.

Thank you so much Scott & cyberghost for your help. 3 days I have been at this trying to solve this problem with various websites and forums, and you guys solved the problem for me without having to make numerous changes with permissions with various CLSID's and just a gambit of changes in the Registry. Thank you so much. Scott, I did not have Forceware, but I did have the ACcess Manager. I totally uninstalled everything with nVidia and installed the new drivers from nVidia, minus this Access Manger. As of this morning, I have not had one single 10016 error, which is just great. I was averaging about 50 per hour or so. You guys made my week. Thank you so very much. I really appreciate this. Now I will sleep tonight. Have a good weekend. Thanks again.
