I am working on a local group policy where I am hiding many of the control panel options from the user. I have hidden many of them using the following way.

gpedit.msc
User Configuration
Admin Templates
Control Panel
Hide specific Control Panel items

Most of them I am able to hide using the microsoft. syntex.

But some of them like symantec live update or adobe gamma do not work that way. Do you know if there is a list I can look at for some common programs.

Mail, Microsoft Mail Post Office, Symantec Live Update, Adobe Gamma, Adobe Version Cue CS4 and CS4.

You can edit the registry to control what control panel items or applets will appear (or not). For more information see the following article: Control Panel Items
