OEM sticker should already be on the case, Retail in the packaging sleeve.

I have seen some system builders stick the OEM label on other things, leaflets, motherboard manuals, sometimes not stuck anywhere!

You are supposed to stick them (OEM ones) on the case!

You can tell by looking at the COA, but not just by the key number alone. Scott.

Scott, what if you to install XP using a Retail installtion disk with an OEM Product Key? What happens then?

The key will not be accepted. Retail media will only accept retail keys, OEM media will only accept OEM keys, etc. In other words, the type of key has to match the product type of the installation media. Note however, that by editing the Product ID (PID) number in the SETUPP.INI file you can in effect change the media type. Scott.

This might be a silly question, but how can you alter the SETUPP.INI file on an optical disc that's non-rewritable?

You burn a new disc with the edited file. Scott.
