Scott, how can I change things so I can save downloaded stuff to the Windows Vista desktop with the most recent updates installed?

The next time you download something, merely change the download location to the desktop during the save. Windows should remember that as the default location for subsequent downloads. Scott.

But with the latest Vista updates, it seems like I can't easily do that stuff you mentioned. It always downloads these days into the "Downloads" folder.

MS likes to "experiment" with the UI on each new program, so new buttons and placemtns to get used to... for a while!

in IE9 right click the top bar and enable/tick menu bar

Then install Firefox (joke)

Tools-View Downloads-options (bottom right of dialogue) and finally you can choose where your files end up, don't see an option to ask every time...

Unfortunately, Mozilla Desktop also seems to send downloaded stuff straight to the "Downloads" folder. How do I change this?
