What decoder is best to play .3gp format in windows media player?

You should be able to play .3gp files using the built-in codecs included with MPC-HC or the VLC media player (my favorite), or possibly in Windows Media Player with one of the K-Lite Codec Packs (which includes codecs supporting 3gp) installed. Note that MPC-HC is also included with the K-Lite Standard and higher packs. Scott.

which did you click on to download the install package or the 7zip package or the zip packackage?

The installer is an executable (.exe) file, there are no zip packages. For example, if you want the Mega Pack the executable installer file can be downloaded from 8 different sources starting with Mirror 1 (Betanews). Scott.

I meant the VLM media player....
