I fix and refurbish laptops and desktops for a local charity. When I install either WinXP or Win7 on these machines, I keep getting the error message listed below. Can't seem to find a fix for it. Thanks.

Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

R6002
- floating point support not loaded

I've had no problems with XP or Win7 installs here so it is most likely due to some of the other software you are installing, some of which may be out of date. First make sure you are installing the latest Java Runtime Edition. Then install the latest Visual C++ Package (x86 or x64). Finally if neither of these help you can disable the jusched.exe (Java Update Scheduler) program using Autoruns. Let me know what solves the problem. Scott.

Tried both installing the Visual C++ and disabling Java Updater and it still does it. I used to use Media Player Classic a lot but this error message prevents me from doing so now.

You might try a different installation source, maybe the install discs or images you are using have been corrupted somehow. Also make sure your sources have the latest service packs integrated. I'm installing both XP (with SP3 integrated) and Win7 (with SP1 integrated) on systems just about every day and have not seen this problem. Scott.

Yeah, this doesn't happen right away eithier . Seems to happen after a while. I use the K-lite codec pack with each install. What do you use to install all the necessary codecs for audio and video? Also install VLC player.

I install the K-Lite codecs and the VLC player as well. It all works for me with no issues under XP and 7. Scott.

After doing some digging on Google, this seems to be a recurring problem when using Media Player Classic or MPC-Home Cinema. To bad, I've always liked using MPC.

I install Media Player Classic (as part of the K-Lite Codec Pack) on all of my systems and have had none of these issues. Scott.

Are you doing a fresh install from media after totally wiping the hard drive or are you doing a factory restore from the hidden partition? Factory restore usually contains bloatware that may have buggy programs included in them. I usually try to do a fresh media install (w/latest SP) on a wiped drive and install all the latest drivers for the system.

I still haven't been able to find a solution. After spending days on Google, I've discovered this is a major problem for a lot of other people as well. Youtube has videos which prove useless. They recommend registry cleaners or anti-virus programs which don't work either. With a problem this major, I'm really surprised no one has come up with an answer.
