I normally recommend
Malwarebytes Free for older systems since it does not run in the background, you run it only on demand. For additional background scanning on systems running XP I've found that
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is the least intrusive and demanding on a system. I also install Malwarebytes Free even when using MSE. However I haven't used Kaspersky or AVG in quite a while so they have have become better since then. If you do use either of them let me know what you think.
