Running XP (or any other OS) under a is nothing new, in fact a . While you can install a virtual copy of XP under Windows 8, you will still need to provide an XP license key. Scott.

Scott, what would be a particularly compelling reason to switch from XP to Windows 7? Keep in mind that I don't mean XP Mode.

Applications can be compelling. For example if you need to run a 64-bit only application like Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 or later, then you would need to run it under 64-bit Vista or later (I would recommend Windows 7). Also any applications which may require more than 3GB of RAM would be compelling, few that they might be. Scott.

Will Windows XP Mode accept any XP Product Key regardless of the edition or version of XP the key was intended for?

As long as one has a valid license for Windows 7 Professional or higher (with an XP Mode license included) then the included XP Mode license should still be valid as well. Scott.
