I am having issues involving Sound Hardware Test Wizard for Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. I have a Logitech C920 webcam as well as the latest version of Skype. The Wizard's Microphone Test goes well. However, it's a different story for the Speaker Test. When I don't have the speakers muted or turned off, the Recording and Playback meters act nutty, and I hear my voice echoing and other crazy stuff. What could be causing my problem, Scott? Keep in mind that I've run Microsoft Fix It more than once, but I haven't solved the problem. My default output device is VIA HD Audio Output.

Update: I've switched my webcam to the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000, but the same kind of stuff happens.

Does the webcam work properly in Skype? Scott.

I've switched back to the Logitech C920 webcam, and it does work properly in Skype.

Going back to the Speaker Test for the Sound Hardware Test Wizard, I tried using a Logitech USB headset. The Speaker Test turned out OK not only when I used the headset for my default playback device, but even when used VIA HD Audio Output for my default playback device. When things went haywire for the Speaker Test while using the C920, I used VIA HD Audio Output for my default playback device.

BTW, was it a good idea to run Microsoft Fix It?

If it fixed your problem, then yes. Scott.
