Dvorak being Dvorak.

Nothing wrong with Vista once SP1 was applied. But compared with Win7 it is less secure.

Yup, its device drivers may work more often on older devices than Win 7 drivers (and Vista drivers for a device may not work on Win7 but usually do). I doubt his Win8.1 laptop is working on the problem devices or network either.

As to Win7 being a placeholder for people that didn't like Vista, well, duh. Just like Win10 is a placeholder for people who don't like Win8. MS prays like Win7 people adopt Win10. Because if users don't radical happenings will occur probably for the better for users and not so much MS.

I have to say though for Dvorak to call Win7 a dog is Dvorak separating himself from any reality of measurement. Vista was HORRIBLY broke. Arguably the worst OS release of MS (though DOS 4 and ME try hard for the honor---note I didn't include Win8 in there. It worked fine...it is just people could not figure out how it worked.)
