Scott What do you think about windows 10? or is it going to be another let down like windows 8.

In five years Microsoft is going to stop the patches etc like they did with windows xp.

The fact that they called it 10 instead of 9 could be either a good sign or a desperate move. The preview looks like they may have backpedaled enough from the disastrous Win8 but since they often change features before release I can't say much until it officially debuts. Scott.

"Free at last, free at last!" Well it is just after MLK day....

Windows 10 free for all Windows 8.1 and 7 users for first year after release

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/01/ ... irst-year/

I presume after a year we will be paying an annual subscription but who knows. One thing I am sure of if you want development you either go the Linux route or a traditional make money or no research business route. MS will have a price.

Also they demoed the IE replacement Spartan for Win10.

Microsoft... "say it ain't so." Adobe lost me and tens of thousands of loyal users when it "forced" us to pay a yearly subscription fee. If Microsoft does the same boneheaded marketing disaster, it too will lose probably millions of loyal users... Software companies out there... are you listening???? We do NOT want to pay yearly or monthly fees!!!! STOP with the forced and mandated subscription services...

I agree. I've moved to an almost 100% free software ecosystem over the last 10 years. The few paid programs I use in most cases I am no longer updating (Adobe among them). If an expensive program I own already does everything I need then why pay for newer versions, especially those with poorly chosen interface re-designs that only serve to reduce productivity? I don't see any subscription based software in my future. Scott.

I'm little fuzzy about windows 10. You have to paid for pay a yearly subscription fee to use windows 10 now. Would that make people stay with windows xp and windows vista and windows 7 pro.

I thought that windows 10 that they are tying to get people back and upgrade to windows 10 and now they want people to pay a damn yearly subscription well I guess Microsoft can go blank themselves.

I'm started to like Firefox and dumping internet explore and I also like the spell check too.
and lot less bull-crap then internet explore.

I won't even touch a computer with windows 8 or windows 8.1 and so on.

that is my 3 and half cents lol.
