on my windows xp sp 3 every time I start my computer and then this little box pops up saying this To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes click ok or cancel.

How do I get rid of this pop up windows it bugs the heck out of me.

I eliminated that problem many years ago by disabling the Windows Desktop Search (indexing) in XP, but you can also do it with a reg edit that specifically turns that function off: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/ ... 99906.html

Uninstalling will work but I disabled it instead so as to prevent it from trying to reinstall via updates: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/1067

I don't have a check mark by the index

i'm not sure about that one website don't understand but anyways that pop window don't come up anymore. but if it does I'll do what you do and disable it so it won't reinstall itself again.
thanks.
