I would only recommend LibreOffice, which is fully functional, free, open source and actively updated. Why would anybody want to spend $50 on a proprietary product with less functionality that may no longer be supported or updated? Scott.

i knew you would say that but it seems that the libreoffice needs java install. I won't install java on my new lenovo thinkpad T420. I can't tell which one is the 64bit libreoffice.

Only a few limited functions require Java: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question ... o-do-this/

The 64-bit version 5 of LibreOffice:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/li ... lang=en-US

If you like it send the $50 you would have spent on the crippled Corel Office as a donation to LibreOffice to support their work, cuz developer's spouses like to eat too.

Why do I say crippled? Because I use WordPerfect Office (but I only install WP) which is the best IMHO for writing. Corel Office reminds me of MS Works. A substandard office package.

I won't say LibreOffice is perfect but it is amazingly good for free. Is kept up to date. Comes in 64-bit. And runs on Windows, Apple or Linux OS. Database app needs some serious improvement though.
