Scott, I've installed Google Chrome and set it as my default browser. Would it be a particularly good idea to disable certain things associated with Chrome via Autoruns?

What are the "certain things associated with Chrome via Autoruns", and what does each one of them do? Scott.

Well, Scott, Autoruns lists one instance of Google Chrome Installer and two instances of Google Installer. Google Chrome Installer keeps Chrome up to date, right? Google Installer keeps Google software in general up to date, right? Autoruns also lists gupdate and gupdatem, both of which are supposed to keep my Google software up to date.

Do you think it is a good idea to keep your primary web browser (the main program governing your access to the the internet) up to date? Scott.

Yes, Scott, but I'm worried about the apps in question interfering with my usual desktop going into S3 mode after a set period of idle time.

BTW, do you think it would be a good idea for me to uninstall Mozilla Firefox now that I've made Google Chrome my default browser? From what I've observed, images on the sites YouTube and Getty Images load considerably more to my satisfaction with Chrome, at least when I'm using the 5Ghz band and have the option "Prefetch resources to load pages more quickly" selected.

I think it is a good idea to have multiple browsers installed so that if there is a problem with a page or site it can be loaded in one or more alternate browsers for troubleshooting purposes. Scott.
