Scott, I know you didn't recommend hybrid sleep in the 22nd edition of Upgrading and Repairing PCs. However, would you recommend hybrid sleep now?

Hybrid Sleep combines Sleep and Hibernate modes, which unfortunately makes putting the system in StandBy (Sleep) mode take just as long as putting it in Hibernate mode. Because of that I haven't recommended Hybrid Sleep since it debuted in Windows Vista. To make Sleep in Vista and later function just like StandBy did in Windows XP (meaning *fast*), turn "Allow Hybrid Sleep" off under the Advanced Power Settings. Scott.
