On my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit pc in the "devices and printers" section my computer which I named "Steve-Pc" has an error icon next to it. The familiar yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the middle. So I right clicked, and clicked properties and under "device status" of "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter" it says "This Device cannot start. (Code 10)". I have no problems with my pc and the only reason I was in the Devices and Printers section was because I needed to check on my printer because my other pc couldn't connect and I've already fixed and handled that situation.

I found this on a different forum,

"Here's what worked for me. It's in the windows knowledge base.

In the start menu search bar type in REGEDIT to open the registry editor. Navigate through the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\TCPIP6\PARAMETERS. In the right pane, right click Disabled Componets and select edit. Set the DWord value to 0. Restart your computer and the teredo tunneling adapter will now start.

Good luck to all. Try this. Its easy and it works."

Scott, I'd like to hear more about this from you. Is the action in the above quote a good idea?

It sounds fine to me. You can always make a note of the existing DWord value and set it back if necessary if changing it causes any problems. Let me know if changing the value solves the problem for you. Scott.

Existing Dword value for Hexadecimal is 8e. Thanks!. I'll try changing it to 0 now.

Ok so the registry edit worked and now there are no errors listed. So now no Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter is listed. Is this "Tunneling Adapter" even needed?.

Ok now I went back into Regedit and looked and the value is still set to 8e. What is going on here?.

Ok so I read This and figured out that normally the Teredo Tunneling Adapter is hidden and it only showed up because there was an error with it. When I went into device manage and looked for it, it showed up after enabling "show hidden devices".
