The desktop PC that my parents usually use has the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Professional installed. Unfortunately, it was unable to install three critical updates today. I've run Windows Update Troubleshooter, and it has detected a "Service registration is missing or corrupt" problem. How can this problem be resolved, Scott? Keep in mind that the installation is on a solid-state drive.

Update: I decided to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Professional.
