Am renewing storage drive in laptop. Device subject chronic malware/hacking.
Is there a disadvantage to employing a SSD?
A local tech advised that, while HDDs have partial failures (controller vs disc itself), when a problem occurs with a SSD, it is generally complete failure.
Somehow my current/dying HDD developed issues with over 300GB in past 9 months, I suspect due to hacking episodes.
So I'm asking if the SSDs are more vulnerable to degradation by hacking.
This, necessarily just a general question!!
Thanks, Tom m

I would never choose a HDD for working storage, they are simply too slow. They can also fail suddenly, and whether you use an HDD or SSD you should always have two or more backups. Neither type of storage are degraded by hacking, which only affects the software in the system. SSDs should be used for working storage, while HDDs are good for backup or archival use. Scott.
