Hello,

I just successfully clean installed XP Home on a Dell Inspiron 1525 that formerly was set up with Vista (Thanks Scott for the tips on using nLite and Driverpacks). I think I have everything installed correctly as I have no yellow questions marks in the device manager. One question I have is how do I confirm the version of the chipset driver that I have installed?. The latest version shown on the Dell downloads site is listed as v8.2.0.1014.

I believe this is an Intel GM965 express chipset which according to Intel's website (http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-025753.htm) has a latest chipset driver version of 9.0.0.1008, graphics driver version of 14.34.4.4964 and Intel matrix storage manager version 8.2.0.1001.

Any advice on where to look to check what versions I have now so I can upgrade if needed?

Thank you!

Excellent. Thank you Scott!

I'm sure this will be of great help to many who are as confused as I am as I've always wondered why drivers are needed when the system seems to work fine with the basic Windows install.
