Hi Scott,
Wow! You're Godgiven! I can't imagine the amount of accurate and timely information you've got on your fingertips! I always recommend techs, students, and PC enthusiasts to join your forum and witness for themselves! Am really grateful!
In the line of Microsoft Server 2000, Microsoft Server 2003...What follows in that regard? Do they fall under the "Server Operating Systems" on this Microsoft Link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb736012.aspx.
* Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003
* Windows Server 2003 R2
* Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2
What does R2 mean? Does it mean Release 2? What category do Microsoft Server 2000, 2003 fall, in relation to Microsoft Home Server for SOHO?
Thanks again for the great information! Have a nice Sunday! Kit

Windows Vista has numerous Editions: Home Premium, Ultimate…Does it imply that Microsoft Server 2008 will be based on all Editions of Windows Vista?
I understand all Editions of Vista need more RAM, right chipset, more Hard Drive space, and a very fast processor, intrinsically a 64-bit system than a 32-bit system of Windows XP pro sp2! Does it logically imply that the impending Microsoft Server 2008 is a 64-bit System and will NOT be able to work on a Window XP pro sp 2 platform? Does it mean upgrading from Microsoft Server 2003 and/or 2003 R2 to Microsoft Server 2008 will be unfeasible, because you have to get a Windows Vista based system (64-bit system, more RAM, powerful processor, right chipset, bigger hard drive…), in order to run Server 2008?
Thanks, Kit.

Server 2008 is based on the Vista codebase, as are all the other editions of Vista you mention. Just as with Server 2003, Server 2008 will also be available in multiple editions including both x32 and x64 versions.
Upgrading from Server 2003 to Server 2008 will be feasible as long as the hardware meets the requirements for Server 2008: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 14778.aspx

Thanks a million! It's very perfect!
Well, does *Codebase* mean the *Source Code* of Windows Vista? What does it imply?
Nice Sunday
Kit.
