Hi Scott,

I've a Broadband Stick modem, having HSDPA and 3G features. I was trying to configure it on my laptop and it failed to work. When I called my ISP Customer Service Center, they told me to Change the Authentication protocol Settings, from "CHAP" to "PAP". I had to check the "PAP" checkbox and I was able to connect.

What does CHAP and PAP Authentication mean? When to use PAP and when to use CHAP?

CHAP (Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol) PAP (Password Authentication Procedure)

So, definitely go with CHAP if you have choice.

Thanks,

Well, my ISP determines the choice, and that's PAP!
