The ATT service people say that most of their's (Motorola) go bad in about a year.
Maybe they think that the IP address that gets assigned to your modem expires after 1 year and somehow have come to the conclusion that the only "fix" for the "bad" modem is to trade it for another so that a new IP address can be assigned...!?
After talking to some "tech support", sadly I don't see that as too much of a stretch...I sure hope I'm wrong.
Try this: Ask them what *exactly* happens after a year and what *exactly* would happen if you just kept using the same modem for more than a year (or even worse...forever!
). I bet you will get all sorts of gems for answers.
