My mother has noise on her phone line that also runs with the DSL. The company has sent signals through the line to check integrity and no issue. They changed line filters, changed the line but still couldn't figure out the issue. She finds that the issue goes away if she turns off the DSL. The gear is brand new so I'm unsure of what else to look at.

I've heard of this type of problem before. You could try a different DSL modem or multiple filters but that may not solve the problem. The best solution would be to install a dedicated or "home run" line to the DSL modem. This means that the line to the DSL modem jack runs from the SNI/NID (Subscriber Network Interface/Network Interface Device, normally on the outside of the building) directly to the jack the DSL modem is plugged into. This setup completely isolates the phone lines from the DSL signal and will both eliminate the noise and improve DSL performance. I would contact your DSL provider to see if they can do this for you at no charge since they do basically owe you a noise-free phone system. Scott.
