Hi Scott,

I'm looking for a *wireless* CCTV camera that could send images to a server, and I'm able to access those images at any time from any smart-device to wit: Smart phone, tablet, laptop... et cetera, most preferably through an Internet Connection. I'm looking at the best Make, Modal, Resolution and speed of relaying the images.

Might also get interested in a *wired* CCTV camera that connects to the server, but enables me get images in a *wireless* fashion. Thanks. Kit.

I don't have any experience with these, but I'm very interested in what you might find. Hopefully others will chime in with recommendations. Scott.

I've seen that most of them will require a Router and/or Access Point. I would kindly though, pray for your thoughts from the above links. Thanks. Kit.

Hi Emma,
I suppose a lot will depend on how professional you want the setup to be and considerations such as the coverage required. I've got a basic set up which, judging by the links you posted, is probably what you're after. I have a Foscam camera which is connected to my wireless router. I've had it for a few years and considered upgrading to one of these for improved quality.
You should find that most, if not all, of these cameras will allow you to back up through FTP to a server of your choice. For access remotely you have the choice of either port forwarding or setting up a VPN to your router and connecting through that. I opted for the second option as I felt it was more secure and I wanted the VPN for other reasons. Obviously, after recent stories in the news take care to add a strong password and keep the camera's firmware up to date, if you go down the port forwarding route. Lastly, IP Cam Viewer, or something similar will allow you to check from Android mobile devices. They have an app on the Itunes store as well.
Hope this helps.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the info. Actually that is very helpful. Well, I should have named this thread title: "IP- Cameras". I was able to purchase IP-Cameras that were connected to the NVR (Network Video Recorder) instead of a DVR.
