I don't use it myself, and for most people I don't see the need. On the other hand I would *not* use a browser without Adblock Plus installed! If besides ads you want to also disable tracking, Adblock Plus can do that as well. Scott. PS: As for the forum issues we had a couple of glitches that should be solved.

Why would someone need a ghostery or adblock puls add on. So they can block ads etc does it help to block viruses and malware etc.

Yes indeed. You don't know what you are missing if you haven't tried it. Scott.

I read on the Mozilla firefox website that the adblock plus don't let some websites load you have to disable the adblack plus to get the websites to load. the version of mozilla firefox is 44.0.2 is the one that don't play nicely with adblock plus. have you ran into this before. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... lock-plus/

I have the latest versions of both Firefox and Adblock Plus installed and running as I type this, works perfectly for me. I haven't seen problems with any of the sites I visit, and if it there is it can be quickly disabled either just for that site (which it will remember) or completely. Scott.

They have been in use for years and so far IMHO have done far more good than bad. I would never intentionally want to go without one.

Scott, I have Adblock Plus 2.9.1 for Firefox, but it doesn't seem to block anything at the present time. I know this is a period of transition for Firefox (a page concerning Adblock Plus 2.9.1 does have the word "LEGACY" next to the title), but how can my issue be rectified? Should I replace Adblock Plus with uBlock Origin? (You might to check this out.)

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling, that normally solves this problem. Scott.

Scott, the Adblock Plus that I have for Google Chrome may be interfering with Yahoo! Mail. Should I whitelist Yahoo! Mail? Keep in mind that I have two Yahoo! Mail accounts.

I would test it and base your decision on the results. Scott.

Scott, I also use the Outlook website for e-mail. Whenever I go into my Outlook account, there is a message on the right side of the screen that reads: Quote: It looks like you're using an ad blocker. To maximize space in your inbox, sign up for Ad-Free Outlook. Scott, do you smell a rat as far as Outlook is concerned? Outlook is part of Microsoft, after all.

I try to minimize my use of Microsoft products wherever possible. I would use Thunderbird over Outlook. Scott.

Clarification: I currently don't have Outlook installed on the desktop PC I usually use. I use the Outlook website to check e-mail for a certain account of mine when using said desktop PC. Still...

It looks like too much work. I don't want to block some ads, I want to block as many as possible. I'd just recommend using something like Adblock Plus instead. Scott.

Scott, what do you have to say about Google Chrome's new ad blocker? It's supposed to be comprehensive.

So far not much. How does it compare against Adblock Plus? Scott.

Check this and this out, Scott. Note the concerns about tracking.
